A Sunderland supporter was left gobsmacked when he sliced into his footie-themed birthday cake, only to discover a cheeky twist that's had social media users howling with laughter.

Alf couldn't wait to dig into his red and white birthday cake emblazoned with the logo of his belovedteam after enjoying a meal with loved ones at Milan restaurant in Northumberland. Little did he suspect, a comical shock awaited him as he made the first cut.

Footage shared on social media by shows Alf cutting through the cake, which was baked by , completely unaware of the impending joke. Women at the table can be heard instructing him to place the slice on a napkin beside him a ruse designed for him to notice what was hidden inside.
